PVC and TPO are single-ply roofing materials. PVC has a longer lifespan (around 30 years) than TPO (around 20 years) and is considered more energy efficient. You can read our blog here to learn more about the differences between these two roofing materials.

On average, new flat roofing system installations may take anywhere from three days to two weeks to complete. The installation time will vary based on the scope of the project. We will always provide you with our best timeline estimate after we inspect your roof.

Generally speaking, yes. This is called re-roofing. Summit Commercial Roofing is capable of handling re-roofing projects. However, based on the condition of your existing roofing system, we may recommend a complete tear-off. Additionally, re-roofing is not recommended if you have a metal roofing system.

You should schedule repairs if your roofing company recommends them after an inspection. If you’ve noticed mold or mildew, damage to your flashing, pooling water, or punctures in the roofing membrane, you may need roofing repairs and should schedule an inspection.

Only a roofing professional can answer this question, and it depends on the condition of your roof. If your roof is badly damaged and the cost of repairs is nearly half that of a new roof, we may recommend a replacement. Additionally, if your roofing system is near the end of its expected lifespan, we may recommend a replacement. Read our Repair Versus Replacement blog post to learn more.

PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a single-ply roofing material that can last for around 30 years if properly installed and well-maintained. It’s also highly resistant to UV degradation, fire, tears, and punctures. Summit Commercial Roofing can install, repair, and maintain commercial PVC roofing systems. Click here to learn more.

TPO, or Thermoplastic Polyolefin, is a single-ply roofing system material that is widely used in the industry. With it being Energy Star rated, it is a reliable option that also adds energy-efficient benefits to your building. With its heat-welded seams, a singular continuous roof is formed to prevent leaks and catastrophic failure. Click here to learn more.

Typically, a PVC roof can last around 30 years with proper maintenance. The lifespan can be influenced by several factors, including:

  • Material Quality: Higher-grade, thicker PVC materials tend to last longer.
  • Installation Quality: Proper installation by experienced professionals is crucial for longevity.
  • Roof Design: Effective design promotes drainage and minimizes water retention.
  • Sunlight & UV Exposure: Direct sunlight and UV radiation can degrade PVC over time.
  • Climate: Extreme weather conditions can accelerate wear and tear.
  • Chemical Exposure: Certain chemicals and pollutants can degrade PVC materials.
  • Maintenance Practices: Regular inspections, cleaning, and repairs extend lifespan.
  • Foot Traffic: Minimizing traffic on the roof can reduce wear.
  • Membrane Thickness: Thicker membranes are more durable.

Yes, PVC roofs are relatively easy to repair, extending their lifespan even further. At Summit Commercial Roofing we offer various PVC roofing repairs, such as seam resealing, puncture repair, mold removal, and more. Learn more about our repair services here.

Absolutely. PVC roofing’s resilience makes it suitable for a wide range of climates and can withstand Michigan’s tough climate.

No. PVC and Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) are distinct materials commonly used for flat or low-slope roofing. PVC, known for its durability and chemical resistance, has been a preferred choice for longer due to its ability to resist fire, water, and grease. TPO is favored for its energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Read our PVC versus TPO article for more in-depth coverage on the differences between these two roofing materials.
